Draft Evaluation

We were absolutely delighted with the turnout for our Pre-Draft Evaluation at YMCA NorthShore on Sunday.

55 players were put through their paces by Huskies Assistant Coach Aaron Young.
Having to turn players away due to Covid-19 restrictions demonstrates the interest there isin the Auckland Huskies and Sal’s NBL 2020.

Considering the players have been unable to play competitive basketball for close to three months the fitness and play of all who attended was pleasingly high.

In addition to players with NBL experience like Dom Kelman-Poto, Tinashe Matambanadzo,Lesae Coe, Jaylen Gerrand there were also a couple of returning American college playerson show.

Isaac Davidson and Kane Kell had successful careers at Sonoma State University andAntelope Valley University respectively and it is good to see them back in Auckland.

There were also a large number of younger players showing they could match it with the‘old-hands’. Dru-Leo Leusogi-Ape, Kiani Saxon, Taine Murray, Harry Payne, Zach Riley, Marvin Williams-Dunn and Nate Wilson all enjoyed good moments during a productive two hour session.

Things start to get interesting for the Huskies management in the next few days.
In addition to our second Pre-Draft Evaluation for xx selected players next xxxxx we will be keeping a close eye on other players declaring themselves available for Sal’s NBL 2020.

Player registrations close on Friday June 5th
We will have more news during the coming week.
