The Auckland Huskies are holding open trials ahead of the 2021 Sal’s NBL Season.

Scheduled for Thursday December 3rd, the trial will be an opportunity for players across Auckland and the surrounding regions to put their best foot forward in front of Auckland Huskies Head Coach Aaron Young, Director of Basketball Dillon Boucher and other Coaching personnel to be announced.

The opportunity to view a wide pool of athletes is something that excites Coach Young.

“This trial is a great way for me to see where guys are at physically, mentally and with their overall confidence. My plan is to set the tone and establish some really high standards. Anytime you have an environment where players are fighting for spots, it’s exciting! I know the intensity will be high and everyone will be competing – can’t ask for too much more as a coach!”

The trial will also be a chance for the selectors to view the athletes with a wider development lens. The Huskies have been clear in their desire to support a larger pool of athletes that have finished high school in the pursuit of their basketball goals.

“While we are hoping to see players of all ages show up and trial, we will also be putting a focus on what players will be suitable for our wider development programme,” added Boucher.

More details of the Huskies post high school development programme are still to come.
